Street Style: It’s Not What You Wear, It’s How You Wear It!

Written by Amna Jamal

What is trending this summer? Going shopping in the malls of Cairo this week left me thinking that basically we are at the point where you can wear anything and itll still be trendy, and let me tell you thats not a bad thing at all because its not about what you wear but how you wear it.

So now Ill leave you with some of the styles that might inspire you if -God forbid- you are facing a fashion drought.

1. Ripped Jeans:

Okay, so first things first! One of the things that are trending this summer, and I absolutely love, are ripped jeans. Beautiful Arwa here wore a really cute pair of blue ripped skinny jeans and a white blouse that has some embellishments of crochet. To make those jeans more veiled-appropriate she wore a pair of leggings underneath; smart girl! The red-ish bag and matching pointed ballerinas add a pop of color interest to her over-all neutral outfit.

2. Maxi dresses:

The next awesome lady we have today is Fatimah, from Saudi Arabia. Her ankle-length maxi colorful, off-the-shoulder dress just stood out in the crowd!

Check out the details too; from her boho bracelets; the choker -now making a come back from the 90s – with a cute yellow tassel, that compliments the strapless dress; her neutral sandals and cross-body bag; and finally the mirror sunglasses and the head band. This outfit is just a pleasure to the eye.

3. Jumpsuits:

How many days a week do you wake up saying ugh its too damn hot to come up with an outfit? Well, cheer up then because jumpsuits are here to save your day. Lovely Haidy over here told me that she is really into jumpsuits especially if they are printed or floral.

Shes wearing a navy blue jumpsuit with red-ish print. She wore a white chemise underneath it, a red headscarf to match the red in the jumpsuit and kept it comfy with white canvas sneakers.

4. Comfort clothes:

Finally, we move on to comfort clothes. From head to toe, sweet Salma looks like she is comfortable in what she is wearing. Those casual Adidas sneakers, the jogger pants, the sweater, the loose headscarf and the over-sized bag all symbolize comfort. Way to go Salma!

How about you?

About Mariem El Tagoury

I am a graduate from German University Cairo. Reading novels is my passion and writing is my release. My guilty pleasures include fashion & playing around with my make-up kit. A couple of years back when I was introduced to the online world, back in 2007; I was quite surprised that in spite of the presence of thousands of young Egyptians who follow the online sphere daily, there wasn’t one site that represented us or our lifestyle. [Later we’d come to see the rise of the political, religion, social-elite, and foodie websites, but still the voice of the average Cairene youth was missing.] I was glad to find out that I wasn’t the only one who had the feeling of the outsider on the internet, that’s why I decided to gather a team to fill a gap & finally find our place online and give Cairo’s youth a real voice that reflects its true culture. I hope you find our site interesting with a new view of life. Besides running the magazine & editing, I write the “Sans Sugarcoating” column, pardon my french, and a couple of other stuff around here!
