Hola everyone! We’re back to “Infusion with Fashion”; translating runway looks into outfits we can wear and afford.

Rebecca Minkoff Resort 2014 – British Vogue

Summer is “officially” over according to our calendars, most countries of the world and even the stores in Cairo’s streets and shopping malls. Although there’s a remarkable drop in the temperature in terms of degrees,  it doesn’t feel like anything’s changed thanks to increased humidity, which means summer’s still hanging in somewhere – Cairo only aims to impress, so yes, we’re still talking Resort collections, *drumrolls* REBECCA MINKOFF, Welcome to CairoContra!

When I was researching the internet for a collection that would still suit our climate here at the moment, I came across Rebecca Minkoff’s Resort 2014 collection and instantly fell in love. Why? Obviously, because it has it all, it has color, edge and free spirit but still has an autumn-y feel to it; something cool and chic to wear at night without worrying it might get chilly. It was punk but still romantic and feminine; in all, the perfect combination for our weather at the moment.

So what does it take to be a Minkoff girl according to her Resort collection? I’ll tell you the recipe here;

Some Guts aka MIXING PRINTS:

A lot of people aren’t fans when it comes to prints, and if they like them, they only wear one print; playing safe. But, it would never hurt if you combined prints, the way Rebecca did it, animal whether tiger or bird on ethnic and stripes. Wear it your way, mixing and matching geometric/graphic instead of ethnic, pants/leggings in animal print. You can tone the whole outfit down with a bold-colored clutch.

Or if you’re not a fan of animal prints, you could switch to floral and yes, you can wear two different floral prints in the same outfit, only one has to be more subtle than the other.

EDGE; I Am Talking About Leather!

Punk; back to the 80s. Oh glory, artistic days of leather and motorbikes! t doesn’t have to be a biker leather jacket. You can still go for a sweatshirt for a girly look, and who doesn’t love skater skirts? Nobody, of course. Spice it up with a chunky chain necklace.

Sporty Is The New Elegance!

Wearing something that looks like sweatpants is really critical, you can either look relaxed and super-chic or look relaxed as in still in bed.

To avoid confusion with sweatpants go for slouchy/sporty-like pants, they’re available in all colours, shapes and prints as well. I’ve coupled these leopard print pants for you with this neoprene zipped-elbows sweater. It’s laid back yes, but you can dress it up with lace-up wedges and a colourblock necklace; comfortable and sexy, BONUS!
