“Reflections”

Share
“I saw frozen versions of things that used to be in order…”

I looked
for familiar faces
in every corner of the room.

The tangible evidence of a half-eaten bagel
inside a lost bag
formed a ghost-like image of him eating it.

I saw
frozen versions
of things that used to be in order.

The books were lined up on the bookshelf
but dusted and covered with a transparent plastic.

I stared
through the mirror
at pictures on the wall behind me.

The upside down reflection
aligned the room in order.

I found myself flipping through the papers,
flipping through the photographs.

At some point,
I realized
I stopped writing the fairytale
and left some pages blank.
