The Grammys are not known for their high formal fashion sense as much as they are known for their fanatical fashion sense. It’s more about the artist’s personal fashion and as much as we appreciate their crazy side it’s lovely to see… other sides to them. The stars like to go all out on the red carpet and give us their version on fashion, which can be quite exciting and disappointing at the same time. Talking about disappointment, a lot of our favorite stars missed the red carpet (Rihanna and Lorde) but we still had a lot to talk about. Here is a look back at the fashion of the biggest night in the music industry.
Top 5 best dressed
Ciara in Pucci

We’ve seen lots of baby bumps this year, well-dressed, some not so much; but Ciara has topped them all. The Queen of the ‘bumps’ this year goes to the lovely singer in this golden patterned Pucci dress. Queenly elegance!
Miranda Lambert in Pamella Roland

The country singer wowed us all in this red number by Pamella Roland and her old Hollywood styled blonde hair.
Natasha Bedingfield in Christian Sirian0

Not many were a fan of Natasha’s look that night, but we loved her partially hippie look which fits her style entirely. She matched this lovely coral dress with gold and turquoise jewelry.
Anna Kendrick in Azzaro

Anna Kendrick recently deviated from acting to singing and was an eye pleasing site on the Grammys’ red carpet. With a bit of cleavage and a contrast of elegance in a lavender Azzaro dress, while her minimal make-up and simple hairdo complimented the attention grabbing dress; Anna won us that night.
Ariana Grande in Dolce & Gabbana

Ariana showed off her pretty innocent face in a 50’s inspired dress by D&G and custom Aldo shoes. We thought it was sweet and lovely.
Worst Dressed
Pink in Johanna Johnson

You’re flat chested so you decided to make up for that by adding pointed cups!? And what’s with that cut?! The slit up front, that pattern, and what’s that color pink, red, orange? Overall, not flattering!
Colbie Caillat in Ezra Santos

Red feathers?! I read somewhere online “no one likes a big red bird”!
Madonna in Ralph Lauren

Okay, I like the nontraditional on the red carpet but this full suit with Madonna’s pale complexion topped with that blood red lip kind of looks like the Madonna vampire just rose from the dead, had lunch and strolled off to the Grammys. And neither the MJ glove nor the gold grill helped the outfit for that matter.
Most Controversial
Katy Perry in Valentino Couture

Katy Perry meant to stun all with this dress straight off the runway of Valentino Couture but in reality it got mixed reviews. Some loved the fairy-tale like dress with the touch of musical notes; others thought the dress didn’t flatter Katy. I really wanted to love it for the sake of the musical notes and Katy’s lovely face and makeup but personally all I could see was a lot of sheer and less dress.
Rita Ora in Lanvin

Rita tried rocking the metallic trend that night and while the unique color was attention drawing, one couldn’t help but wonder about the cut that kind of assumes her nipples glare out at you! The other controversial topic was her manicure; did you find her nails fun or too much?
Taylor Swift in Gucci Premiere

Taylor mentioned that it felt like wearing chain mail and that it was kind of heavy. Why would you wear chain mail?! Why not wear something more comfortable and much more stylish! The dress looked plain and just blah. Lots of fans loved her look, but hey she’s Taylor Swift they’ll love her even if she wears a paper bag! I loved her makeup but she could have made a better fashion choice.
Other Notable Looks
David Banda in Ralph Lauren

We might have not loved his mother’s outfit but the boy has attitude and knows how to work that look. According to their interview he dressed them both. Smart kid outshining his mother!
Alicia Keys in Armani Prive

Alicia looked fierce in this plunging blue dress and that hairdo. You’ve got to love the “Superwoman” singer in this look.
Daft Punk

The men looked smart in their tuxedos, quite unique shoes, and of course their newly styled “heads”!
Kelly Osborne in Badgley Mischka

The fashion police E! News host showed off her tough side with this jewel shoulder padded dress, black and gold jewelry and nails. This cape dress deserves a thumbs up really.
Zendaya in Emanual Ungaro

The young teen star seems to be finding her own style. We love the unique ensemble of sheer shirt and turquoise sheer skirt. Zendaya knew how to stand out in the Grammys in a way that suits her age. Loved it!

I am a graduate from German University Cairo. Reading novels is my passion and writing is my release. My guilty pleasures include fashion & playing around with my make-up kit. A couple of years back when I was introduced to the online world, back in 2007; I was quite surprised that in spite of the presence of thousands of young Egyptians who follow the online sphere daily, there wasn’t one site that represented us or our lifestyle. [Later we’d come to see the rise of the political, religion, social-elite, and foodie websites, but still the voice of the average Cairene youth was missing.] I was glad to find out that I wasn’t the only one who had the feeling of the outsider on the internet, that’s why I decided to gather a team to fill a gap & finally find our place online and give Cairo’s youth a real voice that reflects its true culture. I hope you find our site interesting with a new view of life.
