“Blessed Day”

Today’s the day the toy soldier looks his best

Today’s the day the dolls adorn a crest

Today’s the day ballads shall be sung

Today’s the day sweet delights shall meet the tongue.

For on this blessed day,

In a land, not so far away,

Amidst the desert heat,

In a village where the night is calm and the day upbeat,

On a day like no other,

A child was born.

A child with no father,

Born in a land by many battles worn.

Angels sang for the orphan child

For blessed was he.

So the people celebrate today,

With dessert, toys, songs, and good cheer

For years later the people still chant,

Peace upon him may be.
